Victoria and Albert Petal Encaustic Tiles Mug

Code: 5174771

This fine china Encaustic Tiles mug combines a stunning Petals pattern with a striking black and white colour palette. Inspired by pieces from the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, this heritage design is revived with contemporary flair and styled across a stylish shape: the squat can shape is shorter in height and wider in width, for an ultra-modern look. Steeped in history, encaustic tiles originated in the medieval era. The geometric pattern on this piece is inspired by encaustic earthenware tiles made in Staffordshire in the 19th century. The tiles that inspired this piece were found in the archives of the world’s leading museum of art and design: the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. The V&A archives hold millions of extraordinary artefacts, including glass, textiles, photography, graphics, jewellery and fashion, offering a wealth of inspiration for exquisite V&A heritage designs with a fresh contemporary twist. Capacity: 450ml.
