Traditional Indian Curry

This traditional Indian curry recipe is a family recipe shared by one of our very own at Creative Tops! Enjoy this tender chicken in a flavourful sauce with your choice of rice and naan bread brushed with butter and topped with a sprinkle of coriander.

 (Serves 6) 



1kg chicken breast (cut into equal cubes)
2 tbsp of cooking oil
1 tbsp of ghee (optional)
4 medium onions (chopped finely)
1 tin chopped tomatoes
1 tbsp of ginger paste
1 tbsp of garlic paste
2 tsp salt
2 tsp cumin & coriander powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
2 tsp red chilli powder

For the Garnish:

  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • Freshly chopped coriander



  1. In a casserole dish, heat the oil and ghee together.
  2. Add the onions and cook until golden brown and soft.
  3. Add the rest of the ingredients to the pot: the tomatoes, salt and powders and mix well.
  4. Stirring occasionally, reduce the heat and cook until a shiny top layer texture has formed.
  5. Now add the chicken, mix together and simmer on a low heat for 30 minutes or until desired sauce consistency.
  6. Garnish with garam masala and the freshly chopped coriander and serve.
