Chocolate Orange Brownies

A perfect treat for Christmas that the whole family can enjoy.



Makes 15-20 brownies. 

200g unsalted butter

200g dark chocolate

1 large orange zest OR 2tsp orange extract

300g caster sugar

4 large eggs

140g plain flour, sifted

1 Terry’s Chocolate Orange (divided into segments to decorate)



  1. Heat the oven to 180°C and line a baking pan with baking paper.
  2. Gently melt the butter and dark chocolate in a saucepan on low heat or in the microwave and stir regularly. Heat the mixture until the chocolate has melted and stir to make it smooth. Leave to cool.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk the eggs, sugar and orange zest (or extract) together until pale and fluffy.
  4. Gently fold the in the melted chocolate and butter mixture.
  5. Gradually sieve the flour and cocoa powder into the mixture and combine until the ingredients are just blended.
  6. Pour the batter into the baking pan and bake for 25-30 minutes. Test the mixture with a skewer: it should be still slightly gooey in the middle!
  7. Let the cake cool a little before adding the Terry’s Chocolate Orange segments to decorate. Leave to cool completely then cut into squares.
