A perfect treat for Christmas that the whole family can enjoy.
INGREDIENTS
Makes 15-20 brownies.
200g unsalted butter
200g dark chocolate
1 large orange zest OR 2tsp orange extract
300g caster sugar
4 large eggs
140g plain flour, sifted
1 Terry’s Chocolate Orange (divided into segments to decorate)
METHOD
- Heat the oven to 180°C and line a baking pan with baking paper.
- Gently melt the butter and dark chocolate in a saucepan on low heat or in the microwave and stir regularly. Heat the mixture until the chocolate has melted and stir to make it smooth. Leave to cool.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk the eggs, sugar and orange zest (or extract) together until pale and fluffy.
- Gently fold the in the melted chocolate and butter mixture.
- Gradually sieve the flour and cocoa powder into the mixture and combine until the ingredients are just blended.
- Pour the batter into the baking pan and bake for 25-30 minutes. Test the mixture with a skewer: it should be still slightly gooey in the middle!
- Let the cake cool a little before adding the Terry’s Chocolate Orange segments to decorate. Leave to cool completely then cut into squares.
