Baked Camembert: How To Use A Cheese Baker

There’s nothing quite as heavenly as pairing melted cheese and warm crusty bread and calling it a starter dish. To make and serve your own baked Camembert try using a cheese baker, like you’ll find in our Gourmet Cheese collection. Cheese bakers are a convenient and stylish choice: simply take them out the oven and straight to the dining table to serve. See our easy cheesy guide below for how to use one. You will need:

  • A whole Camembert
  • A garlic clove
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and pepper
  • Cranberry sauce
  • A warm French bread baguette


Make it:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/gas 4.
  2. Put the Camembert into the cheese baker.
  3. We suggest you slice a small amount from the top of the cheese to remove the rind. If you prefer to leave this layer of skin then you can simply pierce it in a few places.
  4. Finely slice a clove of peeled garlic and pop it into the top of the cheese (or into the slits if you’ve kept the top layer) with some fresh rosemary sprigs. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Bake in the oven for 20 minutes or until bubbling and oozing in the centre.
  6. Serve straight from the cheese baker with cranberry sauce and a warm French bread baguette for deliciously gooey dipping.
