Quilts at the V&A

March 22, 2010adminEvents0

As you are probably aware by now, we as a company, absolutely adore surface pattern - so we were very excited to hear that our friends at the V&A are putting on an exhibition dedicated to the wonderfully colourful and intriguing world of British quilts.

There are exhibits from the 1700′s to the present day. Work includes some very early examples, like a gorgeous silk and velvet bedcover, with an oral narrative that links it to King Charles II’s visit to an Exeter manor house in the late 17th century. The curators have also uncovered some amazing personal narratives and broader historial events which have been documented in quilt designs. The exhitibion runs from 20 March – 4 July 2010. Definitely worth a visit!
